FRI, 14 OCT, 2022-theGBJournal| The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have finally announced the suspension of their 8-months long strike.

The Union said on their Twitter handle in the early hours of today that the suspension is ‘conditionally’, but did not specify the conditions.

The official announcement is expected to be announced later today by the President of the Union, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke as members agreed unanimously to suspend the strike.

The Union also set 17 October, 2022 as resumption date for the university students to go back to their lecture rooms. The Union suggested certain universities may choose their dates.

The suspension follows the meeting of the Union’s National Executive Council (NEC) members in Abuja which began on Thursday evening with all states and zonal branch executive members in attendance.

At the meeting the Union reviewed among other issues, the order of the court of Appeal, which had ordered it to obey the earlier order of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) to suspend the industrial action.
