FRI, MARCH 20 2020-theG&BJournal- The All Progressives Congress (APC) party has called on the Federal Government to prevail on the Cross River State’s governor Ben Ayade and the State’s Independent Electoral Commission to postpone campaigns for Local Government elections immediately.
APC noted on their twitter handle Friday that medical doctors are on strike in protest of the unending and massive kidnappings in the state.
‘’PDP has commenced LG election campaigns in the state yesterday, and crowds are gathering. If there is a coronavirus emergency, how will the state respond,’’ APC asked.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) postponed Wednesday postponed by-elections for senatorial districts in three states, Bayelsa, Imo and Plateau States on coronavirus outbreak, but was silent on the LG elections in Cross River State.
INEC, in postponing the by-election, said ‘’postponing the bye-elections became necessary because of the health emergency occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic.’’
