TUE. 07 MARCH 2023-theGBJournal | The All Progressives Congress (APC) party has appointed what it describes as ‘’a team of highly qualified and experienced lawyers’’ to represent the Party at the Presidential Election Tribunal.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared the winner of the presidential election which held on February 25, and presented with his Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) last Wednesday.
But Tinubu faces a tough challenge at the Tribunal from both the Labour Party Nigeria (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who are contesting the legality of his win at the recent polls.
Both political parties have already filed their petition at the Tribunal.
Meanwhile, the APC said in a statement released today that their legal team is comprised of legal luminaries with vast experience in election petition matters, constitutional law and litigation.
The team will be led by Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), described by the APC as ‘’a renowned lawyer’’ who have successfully handled various high-profile election matters and other landmark cases. It also includes the party’s National Legal Adviser, Ahmad Usman El-Marzuq.
‘’We are confident that the legal team possesses requisite expertise and experience to ensure a successful outcome for the APC in the Presidential Election Petition matters.
One of the party’s most vociferous voice, Festus Kayemo is excluded in the team.
