THUR AUG 08 2024-theGBJournal| Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, in charge of the Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Area Command, has announced a record-breaking revenue of N201.8 billion for July 2024.
In a press briefing held at the command on Wednesday, 7 August 2024, comptroller Olomu said, “This is the highest monthly collection in the history of the command.”
“The command has generated the sum of N201.853 billion in July 2024. He stated that for the first seven months of 2024, that is, January to July this year, the Apapa Area Command generated a total of N1,227 billion”.
Comparing the cumulative figure with the previous year, the CAC explained that what has been generated so far for seven months is above the total revenue collected by the command in 2023, which stood at N1.172 billion.
“Our compliance desk, dispute resolution team, valuation, PCA, CIU and other units aimed at promoting seamless trade have been reinvigorated with daily, weekly and monthly evaluation by my office to oversee the progress we are making”, he explained.
Comptroller Olomu ascribed the command’s success to the motivating examples of the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Adewale Adeniyi and his management team.
