Anambra holds business roundtable, as Governor Obiano is sworn-in for second term

WED, MARCH 14 2018-theG&BJournal-In advancement of the economic gains recorded by the state over the last four years, the Willie Obiano-led Anambra State Government is set to hold a business roundtable on Friday, 16th March 2018 at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, Awka.

The Anambra Business Roundtable is part of activities planned towards Governor Obiano’s inauguration and swearing-in ceremony for a second term in office on 17th March. There will also be a book launch by the wife of the governor, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano.

Mark Okoye, Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development in Anambra State, disclosed that participants at the roundtable would include representatives of government ministries and agencies, private sector organisations and international development partners, and it will serve to focus the government on the key areas of economic intervention for the next four years.

According to Okoye: “Following the successful implementation of the state’s economic stimulation plan—which was anchored on four key pillars, namely oil & gas, agriculture, trade & commerce and industry—it became imperative to assess our progress and explore the potential in other sectors like hospitality, entertainment, new media and technology in view of current realities and global trends.”

“The Anambra Business Roundtable will bring together critical stakeholders from the public and private sector to highlight growth opportunities in the emerging industries and build partnerships for value creation. His Excellency, Edward Kallon, the United Nations Resident Coordinator, will be leading international development partners to the strategic meeting.”

“We are also privileged to have on our schedule of speakers and panelists renowned experts like Mr. Jean Bakole, Director, UNIDO; Mr. Ike Chioke, Group Managing Director of Afrinvest; Mr. Mezuo Nwuneli, Managing Partner, Sahel Capital; Dr. Nicky Okoye, Chief Executive Officer of Anabel Group; Mr. Obi Asika, Founder, Dragon Africa; and Mr. Kene Mkparu, Group Managing Director of Filmhouse Cinemas, among others,” Okoye said.
