TUE, 03 NOV, 2020-theGBJournal-At Dixie Notch, New Hampshire with a total population of 12 people, it was a clean sweep for former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic Party candidate. He took all five votes counted. The score was quickly reversed at nearby Millsfield where Republican President Donald Trump swept to 16-5 over Biden.
Both towns are among the first places in the USA to reflect their presidential choices. The votes there were cast a little after midnight (US Time) to begin what is seen largely as a complicated US elections process, made more complicated by the racially charged rhetoric of the US President and his uncanny ability to incite violence.
Nearly a hundred million ballots are already cast nationwide, representing 73% of total votes in 2016 when Trump first won the general elections to become the President. In many States across the country voting has exceeded the state’s vote in 2016. Arizona, Hawaii, Texas and Nevada have a passed the number of votes cast that year.
The huge early turn out is motivated largely by the desire for change and the numerous Trumps’ induced voter suppression tactics as well as legal hurdles suddenly propping up all over the country.
Both Presidential candidates ended their campaigns Tuesday, both delivering messages intended to draw support from their bases or from undecided voters.
The final results of the elections may not be known until Friday but in many States the Democrat Joe Biden is leading with many exit polls suggesting double digit lead but some new polls also suggest that Trump is rapidly closing the gap.
