FRI, 06 NOV, 2020-theGBJournal-US President Donald Trump alluded to election interference ‘’by powerful special interests’’ early Friday morning (GMT) claiming in a speech delivered at the White House briefing room that if all ‘’legal votes’’ were counted he would win the presidential election.
His statement again called into question the integrity of US election process as he suggested that the elections was rigged against him in a 17 minutes speech he read from a written script.
The president also attacked polls showing the US was bracing for a blue wave as ‘’phoney’’ and ‘’designed to keep our voters at home, create the illusion of momentum for Mr (Joe) Biden and diminish Republican advantage to raise funds.’’ They were ‘’what you call suppression polls, everyone knows that now,’’ he said in very sombre and dismissive tone.
In the few remaining states to call in results of the presidential race, he claimed his votes were ‘’miraculously whittled away in secret by ‘’voting apparatus run by Democrats’’ and ‘’they wouldn’t allow legally permissible observers.’’
In three of the five remaining states to call in full results, Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina, Trump currently leads Biden but his lead has been shrinking since Thursday when election officials began counting mail-in votes.
Trump had frequently cast aspersions on the mail-in system, calling it a corrupt system and ‘’it makes people corrupt even if they aren’t by nature,’’ he said today.
In Pennsylvania with 20 Electoral College votes he leads Biden 50.1% to 48.7%, in Georgia 49.4% to 49.2 and in North Carolina he holds 50.09% to 48.69% advantage over Biden.
Biden leads in Arizona(11 electoral votes) 50.49% to 48.14% and in Nevada (6 electoral votes) by 49.4% to 48.5%. Votes are still been counted in these states and it is still unclear the deadline for result.
If Biden takes both states, he will collect the 270 electoral votes needed to make him President. He currently sits on 253 electoral votes while Trump has managed 213 overall
Trump attacked the vote counting process in these states suggesting it is fraudulent, saying also that he has a tremendous amount of litigations going on because of ‘’how unfair this process was.’’
He used the words ‘’steal and ‘’rig’’ to refer to the counting process on numerous occasions during the speech which news report say was blanketed by many US networks.
He attacked Detroit and Philadelphia as ‘’two of the most corrupt political places anywhere in our country,’’ and claimed Democrats has gone to state’s Supreme Court to try and ban election observers.
‘’They don’t want anybody in there, they don’t want anybody watching them as they count the ballot. There is no absolute legitimate reason why they would not want people watching this process. They are trying obviously to commit fraud and there is no question about that.’’
