WED, 04 NOV, 2020-theGBJournal-US President Donald Trump declared himself winner of the 2020 Presidential Election today despite several States still counting votes. The President also said he is going to the Supreme Court but it is unclear why he is heading that way.
Trump spoke almost an hour and half after his Democratic Party Challenger, Joe Biden told his supporters to ‘’keep the faith, guys. We’re gonna win this.’’
President Trump called the counting process a fraud and an embarrassment to the nation, effectively questioning the integrity of the elections.
‘’We were getting ready to win this election, frankly we did win this election. (sic) this is a major fraud in our nation. We want the law to be used in an appropriate manner. So we will be going to the US Supreme Court,’’ President Trump said.
Trump proclaimed it is a very sad moment for him.
‘’We want all voting to stop. We don’t want them to find any ballot sent 4 o’clock in the morning and add them to.’’
‘’Millions and millions of people voted for us tonight and a very sad group of people is trying to disenfranchise that group of people. We won’t stand for it,’’ Trump said to his supporters early this morning.
Trump statement didn’t surprise many analysts who have closely followed him, but they expressed shocked at the President’s statement which they say negates all the democratic ideals of the founding fathers.
Some shocked analysts said the statement about any American been disenfranchised is unprecedented and unpresidential.
Meanwhile, the election has proven a hard nut to crack for the Democrats despite polls showing a Biden lead for months heading into the elections.
Biden currently holds a narrow electoral college lead of 238 to 213, with key battle States of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin yet to be called.
But many networks have already Arizona, a south western swing State with 20 Electoral College ballaot for Joe Biden.
In Pennsylvania, there are still outstanding vote of over 1 million mail ballot to be counted.
‘’I promised Pennsylvanians that we would count every vote and that’s what we’re going to do,’’ State Governor Tom Wolf twitted this morning. And in response to Trump’s reference to the State stopping the ballot count, he twitted, ‘’Let’s be clear: This is a partisan attack on Pennsylvania’s elections, our votes, and democracy. Our counties are working tirelessly to process votes as quickly and as accurately as possible.’’
A winner will only emerge with at least 270 electoral College votes in the bag.
