THUR, 16 JUNE, 2022-theGBJournal| As calls from political divides of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the choice of party’s presidential flag bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, for a running mate from the southern part of the country gathers steam, the Political Adviser to Governor Okowa, Esquire Omimi, has lent his voice to the mass of party faithful in the region in support of a Senator Dr lfeanyi Okowa, joint ticket with Atiku Abubakar.
Omimi, in an interview with newsmen in Warri, said the track records of Governor Okowa as a party man with impeccable acumen and uncommon ability to excel in otherwise difficult national assignments of the party, stand him heads above others in the southern region for the choice of Atiku’s running mate, come the 2023 presidential polls.
The political adviser specifically mentioned the exemplary performance of Governor Okowa in handling sensitive national party assignments such as conventions and in some states, such as screening for governorship candidates, with no blemish afterwards.
In the South-South Region where the Governor is Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Omimi noted that Governor Okowa had earned the confidence of his colleagues such that there had never been any divisions within the ranks of governors of the region till date.
Back home as governor in a multi ethnic state as Delta, he said the relative peace and mutual co-existence among the people, coupled with the tangible transformation projects across the three senatorial districts of the state, attested to Okowa’s leadership genius.
He reasoned that the choice of Governor Okowa, would give balance to the developmental agenda of the PDP presidential flag bearer if given the VP candidate opportunity.
The governor’s political adviser therefore urged the national leadership of the party and the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to narrow down on Governor Okowa as the PDP presidential running mate, not only for justice and equity, but also for accelerated development of the nation through Okowa’s enviable track records.
