Dangote Refinery Control Room

TUE SEPT 03 2024-theGBJournal| Dangote Refinery today began loading trucks of premium motor spirit (PMS) of petrol from its giant refinery for commercial distribution by the weekend.

The 650,000 barrels per day refinery successfully completed its petrol production test run Monday and subsequently began production to the relief of Nigerians and investors who poured over $20 billions into building the facility alongside billionaire owner Aliko Dangote.

Dangote, while announcing the commencement of production at the refinery today, raised expectation on the end of petrol scarcity in the country and spoke to the environmental advantage the products from the refinery holds.

”This will eliminate all full queues in Nigeria, improve the health of everybody and this will also make sure that there is consistent supply of petrol to the market, Dangote said.

”It will also help correct the distortion of the Naira, bring stability to the naira, bring growth and employment as well as prosperity.”

This is a very historic moment. It is a moment of pride to every Nigerian and entrepreneurs.”

Dangote also displayed the unique brand of diesel produced by the refinery, the Euro 5 diesel, less than 10ppm Sulphur wise, the first in the history of the country.

”This will help prolong the life span of motor engines. It will also help the environment and the health of the people.”

NNPC Limited is said to be among the first buyers of the product as Nigerians anticipate drastic reduction in the price of petrol which currently sells for as high as N960 per liter in most parts of the country.
