MON OCT 14 2024-theGBJournal| We want to reassure the public that these legal proceedings will not impact the safety, reliability, or day-to-day operations of Air Peace, Air Peace airline management said, as it races to douse concerns about latest U.S Department of Justice (DoJ) charges against its Chairman, Allen Onyema and Chief Finance and Administration, Mrs Ejiro Eghagha.
The airline, the biggest carrier in Nigeria and West Africa, said it continues to operate without disruption, upholding commitment to delivering top-notch services to its valued customers.
”We understand that this may have raised concerns…These charges levelled against our post-holders are part of an extended legal process stemming from earlier accusations of financial misdeeds that date back several years.”
Air Peace played down the weight of the allegation saying its legal team is fully engaged with the matter, and emphasized that both Onyema and Eghagha remain innocent while dismissing the indictment as ”mere allegations.”
Air Peace management also emphasized that its Chairman, Onyema and his legal team have consistently cooperated with the U.S authorities throughout the process, and said they remain confident that, through due process, ”the truth will be revealed, and our CEO and co-defendant will be exonerated.”
Onyema, founder of Air Peace was charged by the DoJ with obstruction of justice in the latest indictment in the United States and equally accused of submitting false documents in an attempt to halt an investigation into earlier charges of bank fraud and money laundering.
The DoJ in the charges, said Onyema used his airline as a front for fraudulent activities targeting the U.S banking system.
