THUR, MARCH 2 2017-Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, has expressed satisfaction on the contributions of the state Agency for Adults and Non-Formal Education towards providing veritable platform for enhancing the literacy level in the state especially on adults and those who did not have the opportunity to acquire formal education.
Mr. Ukah was speaking when the Chairman, the Permanent Secretary and other members of the agency paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Asaba today.
The Commissioner for Information stated that the education of adult is a vital component of the Prosperity Agenda of the present administration led by Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, adding that the overall literacy level has increased tremendously in the state.
He assured them that his ministry would continue to support and publicize the activities and programmes of the agency throughout the state.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman of the agency, Engr. Juan Amechee, explained that the visit was to solicit the support of the Ministry of Information in publicizing the activities and programmes of the agency to Deltans.
Engr. Amechee called on adults in Delta State who did not have the opportunity to acquire formal education to avail themselves the opportunity offered by the agency to learn how to read and write.
