Mr Hounkpatin Honore, President of Benin Republic nationals resident in Abuja, has appealed to African leaders to ensure good governance and promote peaceful co-existence to reduce conflicts in the continent.

Honore, who spoke on Wednesday in Abuja, when he received an award from Nigeria Youth Initiative for Peace and Good Governance, a student body, said that good governance would ensure peace.

He said that the current conflicts in many parts of Africa would have been reduced to the barest minimum if many leaders in the continent had given serious attention to good governance.

Honore, who is also the proprietor of Sledge Lodge, Kubwa Abuja, however, commended the anti-corruption posture of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“The anti-corruption posture of the present Nigerian leadership will promote good governance and boost the living conditions of Nigerians.
“Conflict is generally reduced when people are happy,’’ he said.

He also commended the NGO for honouring him and promised to do more to promote the welfare of the people.

Mr John Mainasara, National Coordinator of the student body said that Honore was given the award because of his service to humanity.

He said that the recipient had greatly boosted infrastructure development in Kubwa, especially within the vicinity where Sledge Lodge was located.

“All these achievements have marked you as a true leader in the best tradition of our democracy,’’ Mainasara said.
