…Egypt plays opener against Zimbabwe
SAT, APRIL 13 2019-theG&BJournal- Nigeria’s Super Eagles has been drawn in Group B of the Total African Cup of Nations 2019 alongside Burundi, Madagascar, Guinea, the first time the country is seeded in a group not considered as ‘’group of death’’.
Egypt, the host country will play Zimbabwe in the tournament opener on the 21st of June 2019. Both Nations are in the toughest group-Group A- based on recent FIFA rankings. Uganda and DR Congo are the other tough-nuts in the group.
The draw held under the shadows of the magnificent Giza Pyramids and Sphinx in Cairo Egypt ushers in a new era with 24 countries competing in the tournament for the first time since the competition began in 1957 with only three teams.
Egypt is hosting the tournament for the fifth time across six venues. The Finals will be played on 19th of July 2019.
How they are grouped:
Group A- Egypt, Zimbabwe, Uganda and DR Congo.
Group B- Burundi, Madagascar, Guinea and Nigeria.
Group C- Tanzania, Kenya, Algeria and Senegal.
Group D- Namibia, South Africa, Cote D Ivoire and Morocco.
Group E- Angola, Mauritania, Mali and Tunisia.
Group F- G/Bissau, Benin Republic, Ghana and Cameroon.
