Adamawa House of Assembly has constituted a seven-man ad hoc committee to look into the problem of non-payment of salaries in most local governments councils of the state.

The setting of the committee followed a motion moved by the Deputy Speaker, Mr Sunday Peter (APC-Guyuk),
under Matters of Urgent Public Importance.

Peter raised concern over non-payment of council staff, local health workers and teachers for several months, adding that as representatives of the people,
the House needed to intervene in finding solution to the problem.

Other speakers at the Monday plenary including Mohammed Mahmud (APC-Mayo-Belwa), Emmanuel Tsamdu (PDP-Madagali), and Hassan Barguma (APC-Hong) lamented the plight of council workers and urged the house to intervene.

The Speaker of the House, Kabiru Mijinyawa, who presided over the plenary where a resolution was passed for an ad hoc committee, named the Deputy Speaker as Chairman.

The committee is to submit report in one week.
