Absence of prosecution witness at an FCT High Court, Wuse Zone 2, on Friday stalled the trial of Henry Ogbolue and Lawrence Pepple, aides to Kingsley Kuku.Kuku is the Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta Amnesty programme.
Ogbulue and Pepple were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for criminal conspiracy and fraudulent acquisition of property while being employed in public service as aides.
The charges against them contravened Section 26(1)(b) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 and punishable under Section 12 of the same Act.
Prosecuting Counsel Farouk Abdullah told the court that the witness was unavoidably absent.
According to Abdullah, the first witness, a staff of the office of Niger Delta Amnesty programme, is on a crucial assignment to Bayelsa State.
He prayed the court for an adjournment, which the defence counsel, Mr Jay-jay Ezeuko, did not oppose.
In his ruling, the judge, Justice Mamman Kolo, adjourned the case till Sept. 26 for continuation of hearing.
