ABUJA, JULY 22, 2016 – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has described as shocking, the death of Rep. Adewale Oluwatayo, representing Ifako, Ijaiye Federal Constituency of Lagos State.The lawmaker, who was a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), died on Wednesday in Abuja.
Dogara, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media & Public Affairs, Mr Turaki Hassan in Abuja on Friday, said he was deeply affected by the news of the sudden demise of the lawmaker.
He said that Oluwatayo was a hardworking, committed and patriotic lawmaker.
The speaker said that late Oluwatayo died when his services to the nation were most needed.
“We mourn our fallen colleague as one who gave his best in service to God and humanity.
“He was a committed and hardworking member who championed the cause of his people.
“Our hearts goes to his immediate family, the people of Ifako/Ijaiye Federal constituency and Lagos State over this great loss.
“I pray God Almighty to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. We will surely miss him in the Green Chamber,’’ he said.
The deceased served as special adviser on education in Lagos State between 2009 and 2011 and Chairman, Electricity Board between 2004 and 2007.
He attended Ilesha Grammar School in 1968, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Lagos State University in 2005.
