MON JAN 20 2025-theGBJournal| Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja to represent Nigeria at the 2025 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), scheduled to take place in Davos, Switzerland.

The Vice President will join world leaders, top business executives, and representatives of development partners at the meeting to discuss the state of the global economy, with a view to improving its conditions.

While in Davos, the Vice President will hold bilateral meetings with other leaders and participate in workshops and forums organized as part of the annual gathering.

Among the events scheduled for the Vice President is a workshop titled “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets,” organized by the African Development Bank in collaboration with the World Economic Forum.

The workshop aims to boost the flow of capital into Africa’s frontier markets and scale solutions that build a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient continent. It is scheduled to hold at the Congress Centre in Jakobshorn.

A key item on the agenda will be the announcement of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing (HRI) Roadmap for Africa, developed in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB_Group).

This initiative aims to foster partnerships between public and private sector leaders interested in mobilizing investment in Africa’s frontier markets, among other objectives.

The Vice President will also attend a dinner for heads of state, government, and international organizations, as well as the Annual Meeting 2025 Crystal Awardees, the International Business Council, and Strategic Partners. The dinner is slated to take place at Kurpark Village, Eiger.

The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2025, taking place in Davos-Klosters from 20 to 24 January, convenes global leaders under the theme, Collaboration for the Intelligent Age.

The meeting, according to WEF, will foster new partnerships and insights to shape a more sustainable, inclusive future in an era of rapidly advancing technology, focusing on five key areas: Reimagining Growth, Industries in the Intelligent Age, Investing in People, Safeguarding the Planet, and Rebuilding Trust.
