SUN OCT 20 2024-theGBJournal| The Flamingos, Nigeria’s U-17 Women’s squad scored four times to beat Ecuador at the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in CFC Stadium, Santiago de los caballeros, Dominican Republic, on Saturday.
The victory, 4-0, takes the Flamingos to the quarter-final stage and closer to securing the on-Championship.
Forward, Shakirat Moshood opened the scoring with a cleverly taken penalty in the opening half, while Harmony Chidi and Peace Effiong added to the tally with brilliant finishes.
Moshood sealed the match with her second goal in added time to set up a clash with hosts Dominican Republic on Tuesday night.
The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup™, the 8th edition, features 16 teams from across all Confederations and take place from the 16th of October to the 3rd of November.
Santiago de los Caballeros and Santo Domingo are host to the 32 matches scheduled.
