The awards were presented by the ACI Africa Secretary-General, Ali Tounsi, and President, ACI Africa, Emmanuel Chaves.

According to the office of the Aviation Minister, Festus Kayamo, ”these prestigious awards are a testament to the unwavering commitment and hard work of everyone involved in ensuring excellence in airport emergency management and resilience, especially the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development”.

Nigeria’s aviation sector can take pride in this achievement, which underscores the dedication to providing secure and efficient travel experiences.

NAIA, a category one airport was reopened on April 2017, and a new terminal with capacity to process up to 15 million passengers per annum, was commissioned on 20 December 2018.

Earlier this, the Federal Government installed E-verification gates at the airport as part of a comprehensive strategy to bolster internal security and streamline the arrival experience for passengers on entry into Nigeria.

Similarly, a new terminal at the Port Harcourt International Airport was commissioned on October 25, 2018 to boost passenger volume and today it is the third busiest airport in Nigeria with great safety record.
