TUE APRIL 09 2024-theGBJournal| The Super Falcons has booked their spot at the 2024 Paris Olympic Women’s football tournament after a hard fought 0-0 draw with South Africa Banyana Banyana squad at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.
This is Nigeria’s first in 16 years after a 1-0 aggregate score line against South Africa’s vastly improved women’s team, breaking the Olympic jinx (last appearance in 2008)
Nigeria now plays in Group C which include Brazil, London 2012 Silver Medalists Japan and World Champions Spain.
France will play the USA to kick start the women’s tournament. The French team will be aiming to become only the second host nation to triumph in women’s football at the Olympics after the USA’s victory at Atlanta 1996.
