MON, MAR 18 2024-theGBJournal| MainOne, an Equinix Company, Monday reported it has achieved some level of stability on its network across the region after major damage on its submarine cable in high sea.
The damage, which experts says will cost over $3 million to repair, led to service degradation or complete connectivity outages across Africa.
The stability follows efforts with regional partners late last week and over the weekend to reroute traffic with restoration capacity.
”These developments represents a significant milestone to ensure continued connectivity for the West African business community,” the company said.
MainOne noted that it is actively working with maintenance partners, vessel owners and permitting authorities to expedite the repair of its submarine cable.
”We are very optimistic that our cable will be repaired as planned and services fully restored, so that we can continue to operate with continued integrity of the submarine cable.”
