THUR, OCT 26 2023-theGBJournal|The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Thursday unanimously dismissed Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar’s challenge to the Election Petition Tribunal decision to uphold the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in February 25, 2023 presidential election.

Atiku, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came second in that election ahead of the Labour Party of Nigeria’s candidate, Peter Obi.

All the justices of the Supreme Court hearing the case agreed that Atiku’s appeal lacked merit and consequently dismissed the challenge, without cost.

Similarly, the Justices led by Justice Nyang Okoro dismissed Peter Obi’s on the ground that it also lacked merit.

The Supreme Court had 60 days to deliver its verdict. But surprisingly fast-tracked it after hearing all the arguments of the the appellants and defendants on Monday.

The decision today, consequently affirms and vindicates the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as President of Nigeria.
