MON, OCT 23 2023-theGBJournal| The delegation, led by the EU Commissioner for Energy, Ms. Kadri Simson, was received by NLNG’s MD/CEO, Dr. Philip Mshelbila, Nnamdi Anowi, General Manager, Production, Andy Odeh, General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development and other management staff.

It is understood that the EU is considering buying LNG from the Bonny Island based LNG facility as Europe expands its regasification capacity.

The NLNG has in recent times ramped‑up its liquefaction projects as it seeks to grow its global export share.

Speaking during the visit over the weekend, Dr. Mshelbila highlighted that investments in Nigeria’s gas sector would wield a far-reaching influence on the global gas and LNG supply landscape, ensuring that the world has continuous access to reliable and environmentally sound energy throughout the ongoing energy transition.

Dr. Mshelbila pointed out that there were plans to address the root causes of issues in the gas sector, adding that what is needed to complete the plan is the firm will of all stakeholders and urgent action.

He stated that the remedy to industry challenges lies in a concentrated effort on the gas sector, as outlined in the Decade of Gas plan.

He noted that the plan takes into account the growing demand for gas within Nigeria and globally, forecasts its growth trajectory, evaluates the available supply potential, and outlines a ten-year roadmap to bridge the demand-supply gap through strategic infrastructure development.
