THUR, MAY. 04 2023-theGBJournal|Erling Haaland scored Premier League record breaking goal against West Ham as Manchester City climbed effortlessly back to the top of the table.

The hefty Norwegian has now scored 51 goals in all competition this season, 12 behind Dixie Dean’s all-time English record, with nine games still to play. Haaland’s sublime goal 20 minutes from time took him on to 35 this season in the Premier League, one clear of Andy Cole and Alan Shearer, whose 34-goal tallies came in a 42-match campaign.

Deservedly, City’s boss, Pep Guardiola asked his players to stand in guard of honour for the well over 6ft tall dare-devil striker after the 3 nill thrashing of West Ham Wednesday, to show the player how immensely special his achievement is.

So, the players, Pep and his backroom team lined up to acknowledge the King as he made his way to the dressing room.

”Everyone hit me on the back,” laughing Haaland told SkySports. ”It was painful.”

”He is a joy,” Pep said. Everyone is happy to have him with us.”
