SAT 03 JULY, 2021-theGBJournal- Denmark beat Czech Republic 2-1 in Baku to book their place in the semi-final of the EURO 2020. They play England that thrashed Ukraine Saturday evening 4-0 in Rome’s Olimpico Stadium. The clash takes place at Wembley Stadium, London England on Wednesday.

Two goals in the first half from Thomas Delaney (5th minute) and Kasper Dolberg sealed the game for Denmark. Patrik Schick scored the consolation goal for the Czech Republic.

Delaney beat the Czech goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik with a calmly directed header from an out swinging corner taken by Jens Stryger Larsen. Delaney nearly scored his second but his half-volley shot flew just wide off the post.

The Czech Republic came back in the second half stronger. Antonin Barak had the Danish keeper Schmeichel rattled after Michal Krmencik tested him within a minute of coming on as a substitute. But that was all the Czechs could muster.

Meanwhile, England cruised to the semi-final after goals from Harry Kane (2 goals-4th and 50th minute), Harry Maguire (46th minute) and Jordan Henderson (63rd minute). Kane’s two goals erased any further doubts over his form. England will return home to Wembley as the favourite for a final place.

Kane opened the scoring when he lifted the ball above Ukrainian goalkeeper Georgi Bushchan following a Raheem Sterling sublime pass from the edge of the penalty box. Then the England captain made it three goals in two games after Harry Maquire’s aggressive header from Luke Shaw’s free-kick doubled England lead.

The win is England’s biggest victory at a European Championship finals and the first semi-finals since 1996.
