WED 12 MAY, 2021-theGBJournal- Several electricity distribution companies (Discos) across the country are reporting national grid collapse amid Eid-al Fitr, Muslim celebration to mark a month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan.

‘’We regret to inform you that the power outage currently being experienced across our franchise-Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zanfara states-is as a result of the collapse of the national grid,’’ Kaduna Electric, one of the Discos reporting the outage said in a statement targeted at its customers today.

The collapse occurred at about 11.01 am this morning leaving much of Lagos, Abuja and many major cities across the country without electricity.

It is unclear as at the time of reporting, the cause of the collapse but electricity watchers in the country say it’s a regular occurrence that have gone unexplained for decades now.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has made no official statement to the outage.
