SAT, 05 DEC, 2020-theGBJournal- The U.S. Government has removed all visa reciprocity fees for Nigerian citizens seeking visas to the United States.
The visa reciprocity fee, also known as the visa issuance fee, is fee paid as required after visa application is approved for non-immigrant visa.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement signed Friday by its Spokesperson Ferdinand Nwoye that the elimination of reciprocity fees is with effect from December 3, 2020, for Nigerian citizens.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry described the move as a ‘’positive development’’, and ‘’in line with the removal of excess visa application, processing and biometric fees for United States citizens applying for Nigerian visa by the Nigerian Government.’’
The U.S. Government imposed the reciprocity fees on certain visa categories for Nigeria travellers after it accused the Nigerian Government of foot dragging on its visa fee structure for U.S. citizens seeking to visit Nigeria.
