Flexenclosure, a specialist developer of intelligent power management systems and pre-fabricated data centres for the ICT industry, has set up a new company in one of its key markets – Nigeria.
The new company – Flexenclosure Technology Solutions – is a wholly owned subsidiary of Flexenclosure AB in Sweden and will serve Flexenclosure’s operations and growing number of customers in the West African region. It will be headquartered in Victoria Island, Lagos, the business hub for all major telecommunications and multinational companies in Nigeria.
Flexenclosure has already deployed hundreds of eSites, its trademark hybrid power system for off-grid and bad-grid cell sites, in Africa and is in the process of deploying significantly more as a result of recent orders. A pioneer in green power solutions for the telecom industry, Flexenclosure deployed several hundred eSites for Airtel in Nigeria as early as 2011 and has also built 15 data centres across the country.
“Having built our first data centre in Nigeria back in 2001, the country has been a key market for us for many years,” says David King, CEO of Flexenclosure. “With the Nigerian and broader West African markets rapidly expanding, we are investing in growing our local presence such that we can continue to offer fast product deployment and world-class support to our customers there. Establishing Flexenclosure Technology Solutions is a clear statement of our long-term commitment to the country.”
Flexenclosure is a fast growing supplier of advanced infrastructure for the information and communications technology industries. Its two key products are eSite, a hybrid power system for off-grid and bad-grid cell sites that delivers 24/7 network uptime and diesel-related cost savings of up to 90%; and eCentre, custom-designed, prefabricated data centre buildings that are fast to deploy, energy efficient and easy to expand.
“Flexenclosure Technology Solutions is uniquely positioned to address a number of challenges faced by the ICT sector in Nigeria and beyond. The increasing need to reduce dependence on fossil fuels is driving demand for green energy and financially optimised power systems. Flexenclosure’s eSite is the ideal solution in this scenario, while our eCentre data centres are the perfect choice to support network infrastructure upgrades and expansions whether you’re an enterprise, telco, colocation provider or global Internet company,” King says.
Flexenclosure Technology Solutions will be headed by Adekunle Adeyemi, who has worked in the telecommunications industry for over 10 years in a number of African countries. He will be supported by a local team comprising finance, logistics, operations and technical customer support functions.
