THUR, MAY 14 2020-theG&BJournal- The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday raised the toll of the country’s coronavirus confirmed cases to 4971, including 164 death and 1070 discharged.
On the same day the World Health Organisation (WHO) emergency director, Michael Ryan warned that the disease may never go away again.
‘’We have a new virus entering human population for the first time and therefore it is hard to predict when we will prevail over it,’’ Ryan said during a virtual press conference in Geneva
‘’This virus may become just another endemic virus in our communities and this virus may never go away. HiV has not gone away but we have come to terms with the virus.’’
The coronavirus has infected about 4.2 million people worldwide and killed over 300,000.
