President Muhammadu Buhari has reversed the suspension of the Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Damilola Ogunbiyi, thus exonerating her.
This was revealed on Tuesday in a tweet by the Federal Government via the Twitter handle, @NGRPresident, today.
“President @MBuhari has directed that the suspension of Mrs Damilola Ogunbiyi from her role as Managing Director of @realREANigeria, be reversed. Her resignation effective 31 December 2019 has been accepted to enable her assume her new @UN appointment,” the Federal Government said in the tweet.
Ogunbiyi had been earlier accused by the Minister of Power of committing some unnamed infractions for which she was suspended.
Ogunbiyi tendered her resignation back on October 7 after securing a top United Nations appointment, giving the mandatory three months’ notice in preparation to hand over to her successor and transition REA to its new leadership.
Her resignation letter was addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Minister of Power, Minister of State for Power, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Power, and the Chairman of the REA board were copied.
The clean bill given by President is a boost to Ogunbiyi, who has since resumed at the United Nations on January 2, 2020, as the Chief Executive of Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) and Co-chair of the United Nations-Energy.
