The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), is set to boost bilateral trade relations between Nigeria and Russia through the launch of an e-commerce platform.

Mr Muda Yusuf, Director-General of LCCI, said in a statement in Lagos on Wednesday that the platform would increase the quantum of direct import and export trade between both countries.

Yusuf said the chamber was collaborating with Trail Trans Logistics Group of Companies in Russia to launch the e-commerce platform.

“The RuNiTrade e-commerce platform is a welcome development, coming at a time when Nigeria seriously needs foreign exchange from export as a way of diversifying the economy and strengthening the non-oil sector.

“The focus, here, with this launch, is to strengthen the bilateral trade relations between Russia and Nigeria and boost the economic activities between the two countries”, Yusuf said.

Yusuf said the launch would feature business interaction between delegation of Russian entrepreneurs and their Nigerian counterparts on business opportunities available to willing investors in international trade.

He said that the programme was scheduled for June 21 at the Commerce House.

According to him, the Deputy Head of Mission, Trade and Economy, Embassy of Russia in Nigeria, Valery Shaposhnikov; President, Pskov Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Russia, Zubov Anatolyvich would be in attendance.

Mr Sampson Uwem-Edimo, the Director, Trail Trans Company, said its partnership with LCCI was to add value to Nigeria’s international trade relations status.
“It will unravel the hidden treasures in doing business with Russia as a big window to Europe.

“The company is positioned to make bilateral trade relations between Russia and Nigeria a smooth one.

“To achieve this, we will continuously transmit news about Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy to Russia. The move is a bold and aggressive attempt at stimulating investment flows between both nations.”
