FRI, DECEMBER 07 2018-theG&BJournal– Don Lemon CNN’s Tonight host, made a direct and passionate appeal to Comedian Kevin Hart after he stepped down as Oscars host over homophobic tweets.
‘’Lets make you an ally of the LGBTQ community,’’ Lemon said with passionate expression on his face.
‘’I am a member of the LBGTQ community. I don’t know you too well but I know you a little bit and I believe your heart could be in the right place and you can move to become an LBGBTQ ally. Come on my show, come on the air. I will give you a fair shot to talk about all of these and to have your say’’
Hart stepped down after the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science asked him to apologise for a number of his old tweets that used homophobic language, which he initially refused to do. He suggested in his tweet early Friday morning that he does not want to be a distraction ‘’on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.”
‘’I sincerely apologise to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from the past,’’ he said while announcing his decision.
His decision angered many of his fans and some are suggesting they will not be watching the Academy Awards which is billed for the Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles Califonia on the 24th of February 2019.
