Governor ABUBAKAR SANI BELLO receives support from amalgamated market traders Union

TUE, SEPT 11 2018-theG&BJournal-Lady Monica Chidnma Eze the Founder and President of David Umahi Nweze Akubaraoha Ebonyi Transformation Agenda (DUNAETA) a vibrant, virile grassroots NGO based in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State that is at the fore front of the re-election bid of Governor Dave Nweze Umahi in 2019 has described the acceptance of the indefatigable Governor of Ebonyi State, Apostle David Nweze Umahi to accept to contest the 2019 general elections as historical, monumental, memorable, continuation of his vision to turn the State into one of the best States in Nigeria.

This is also an answer to the prayers of the people of Ebonyi State that wouldn’t want the current monumental changes taking place in the State to be distorted by some unprogressive elements in the State.

Lady Monica Eze AKA Ada Ebonyi who witnessed the epochal event reported that Chief Engr. David Nweze Umahi, the wonder working Governor of Ebonyi State was ably represented by Chief Barrister Kelechi Eric Igwe, the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State picked up his gubernatorial nomination form to contest the 2019 general election at the PDP State secretariat in Abakaliki the State capital of Ebonyi State on 6th September, 2018 amid fanfare and jubilation by supporters who came out enmass to witness the great event.

The Deputy Governor who was so delighted thanked the State Executive Council members for the gesture and role they played to ensure that Gov. Umahi who has laid a monumental legacy in the recreation, restructure, redesign and development of the state is bestowed with the honour of their support in acquiring the gubernatorial nomination form for his re-election  come 2019.

Most importantly, Barrister Kelechi Eric Igwe in his address quoted the constitutional law in Section 93 of the Fed. Act as regards election campaigns which states that;

“No single individual or entity Shall donate more than a million naira for  election campaigns” and was flabbergasted by the love expressed by Exco members, support groups, Party loyalists and friends who came together to raise funds  for the gubernatorial nomination form of Governor Umahi under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (P. D. P)

A cheque of 20million Naira was presented to the party Chairman Onyekachi Nwaebonyi who handed over the nomination form to the Governor and congratulated him for making credible historical imprints towards the economic and infrastructural development of the state.

Ada Ebonyi highlighted the promise of Governor Umahi to return power to Abakaliki bloc in 2023 after his second term and reiterated that it will be unfortunate for some elements like Prof Benard Odoh erstwhile Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government who is from the central zone of the State  to contemplate of contesting the gubernatorial election of the State at this period as doing so will thwart the zoning arrangement of the State as contained in the Ebonyi Charter of equity by the founding fathers of the State that envisioned that power should rotate among the three senatorial zones of this State.

Lady Ada Eze who also doubles as the Technical Assistant (TA) on Media to Governor Umahi highlighted that Ebonyi state has a charter of equity which stipulates rotation of the governorship position of Ebonyi state among Ebonyi North, Ebonyi Central and Ebonyi South senatorial districts in that order. The second clause of this solemn charter which is linked with the first clause is that each of the occupants of the seat has a right to two unbroken tenures.

“Based on this Charter, Dr. Sam O. Egwu from the Northern zone of the State was elected in 1999 and re-elected in 2003. In the same vein Chief Martin Elechi from Ebonyi Central zone was duly elected as the Governor of the State in 2007 and re-elected in 2011. These two former Governors had two unbroken tenures then I wonder why some people are contemplating of denying both the incumbent Governor and the southern zone of a second tenure as benefited by these two former Governors in the persons of Dr Egwu (North) and Chief Elechi (Central)

Ada Ebonyi maintained that Apostle David Nweze Umahi who has in three years achieved more than any Governor in the history of democracy in Ebonyi state deserves not just an unbroken second term but an un-opposed second term come 2019.

Lady Monica Eze pleads with the Ebonyians to consider the monumental feats achieved by the administration of Apostle David Nweze Umahi these past three years and reelect him to accomplish his mission and vision of handing over of a state that is most beautiful, best economy and richest in the country.

Meanwhile, Niger State governor Abubakar Sanni Bello received a big boost from the state’s amalgamated market traders Union who helped him procure his nomination form yesterday. The union led by its Chairman, Alh Muhammadu ABUBAKAR Dandare led members of the union to the State House to present the form they purchased amidst fanfare and in front of adoring supporters.

Sanni Bello thanked them and promised to continue to move the state forward economically while entrenching security and probity in the state.
