Al-Makura warns against encroaching on Mararaba old Orange Market

Gov. Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State on Sunday threatened to sue those encroaching on the old Orange Market in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area.

Speaking during unofficial visit to the market site, the governor observed that some portions of the old market had traces of allocation by unauthorised persons.

He said the state government would deal with any land speculator found illegally selling parcels of land at the site.

Al-makura promised to prosecute anyone who defrauded unsuspecting members of the public through the sale of the land, which fully belonging to government.

He urged those residing around the land to assist government in apprehending any one found defrauding members of the public and report such person to the nearest police station.

Al-makura had in April commissioned the New Marraraba Orange market and made a donation of N20 million for the provision of some needed amenities.

He also donated N30 million for the completion of the road linking the market to Abuja-Keffi highway.

The governor said the state government had earmarked the old market site for the construction of an ultra-modern primary school in Mararaba.

He said a portion of the land would be used for the construction of recreational centres and fitted with sporting facilities to give youths in the area the opportunity to develop their potentials.
