ABIA, JANUARY 24, 2018 – Former Governor of Jigawa State , and a front line Presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), Alhaji Sule Lamido has said that the ruling All Progressive Congress ( APC ) “lacks the capacity to keep Nigeria united”.

Lamido who made the statement Tuesday in Umuahia Abia State, when he visited Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to solicit support for his presidential ambition, called on Nigerians to vote APC out of power in 2019 for peace to return to the country.

The former Governor lamented that Nigeria had been turned into a human abattoir and killing ground under the watch of APC which he dismissed as a party ” only good at propaganda”.

His words: ” There is killing and blood everywhere in Nigeria. How long will this continue? APC has no capacity to lead. They are people learning on the job. Amateurs have taken over Nigeria.

” What APC is doing is shameful. They don’t have the political sagacity to lead Nigeria. If given the opportunity I will perform because I have the heart and commitment.”

Lamido said that instead of providing good governance for the people, APC -led federal government is only busy persecuting members of the opposition.

” They demonize us but we know what they are doing – from NNPC to Maina, and other atrocities. Because they are wonderful liars they cover their evil deeds.”

Lamido said he was one of the surviving members of the ” G9 ” politicians and eminent Nigerians who opposed late dictator Sani Abacha , and formed the political association that metamorphosed into the PDP in 2009.

He called on patriotic Nigerians to unite again and wrest power from APC in 2019 to save Nigeria’s democracy from derailing.

Later in an interview with newsmen, Lamido said if elected President he would quickly address the herdsmen and other security challenges bedeviling the country.

Asked to declare his position on the clamour for restructuring, the former Governor said ” if there is good governance, there won’t be need for any agitation in the country”.

In his response, Gov. Ikpeazu thanked Lamido for making out time to visit Abia to solicit support for his ambition, maintaining that Nigeria is in dire need of detribalized patriots to salvage the country which he said is at the brink of disintegration.

” We are at a point where we must make or mar. Wherever we want to go there are consequences and prices to pay.

” Nobody believes APC government anymore. We are in dire need of people who can be trusted – leaders who can galvanise the best brains to move Nigeria forward”.
