The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has sealed the NNPC filling station in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River for allegedly diverting fuel to Cameroon.

Mr Bassey Nkanga, the Operation Controller of DPR for Akwa Ibom and Cross River, said on Thursday that an NNPC truck conveying 40,000 litres was intercepted by DPR personnel on surveillance exercise.

Nkanga said the truck was already heading to Bakassi Local Government Area from where it would enter Cameroon through Ikang border before the interception.

He said the truck was taken to the NNPC mega station in Calabar where the product was discharged for sale.

He also said, “On the issues of pump price, I can assure you that no filling station in the state would be allowed to sell above the official pump price of N86.50.

“We had a robust meeting with major and independent marketers and we have agreed that the price of a litre of fuel be sold at the government approved price of N86.50.

“We also agreed during the meeting that we would canvass for more supply of fuel to the state,” he said.
