FRI NOV 06 2026-theGBJournal| Nigeria is open for gas investment. That was the message from Rabiu A Umar, Authority Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), to global energy leaders at ADIPEC 2026.
Mr Umar spoke at a panel session on “Competing for Feedstock Advantage in a Tighter Supply Environment”, moderated by Eithne Treanor, Founder and CEO of ETreanor Media.
He said Nigeria’s challenge is not its 215.19 TCF gas reserves. The challenge is the infrastructure needed to get that gas to industry.
He said the AKK and OB3 pipelines and the ELPS compression projects are nearing completion. He added that Revision 2 of the Nigerian Gas Transportation Network Code now guarantees industrial buyers fair and transparent access to the national network.
Rabiu A_Umar also highlighted the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF). The Fund has committed N671 billion in equity, which has attracted over $1 billion in private investment across 31 projects.
He said Nigeria offers an investment opportunity of $30 billion to $50 billion by 2030. He invited global financiers and developers to partner with the country in turning its gas resources into shared regional prosperity.
