THUR OCT 15 2026-theGBJournal| Nigeria’s opposition presidential hopeful Atiku Abubakar has launched a digital platform to engage voters directly, as political activity gathers pace ahead of the 2027 general election.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate unveiled Ask AA, a citizen-engagement portal designed to allow Nigerians to question him about his political record, policy proposals and plans for the country.
The platform is scheduled to go live at 20:30 local time on Thursday, 15 October.
It will allow users to submit questions on key issues, including the economy, security, technology, job creation and the rising cost of living.
Atiku says he will personally answer questions, with support from his media team. He also plans to telephone selected participants who provide their contact details to discuss their experiences and concerns.
Announcing the initiative on social media, the former vice-president said leadership should involve direct communication between elected officials and citizens.
“Leadership is a two-way conversation,” he said, adding that the platform was intended to promote transparency, accountability and dialogue.
What is Ask AA?
The free-access portal is designed to give Nigerians a direct channel to seek clarification on Atiku’s policies, question his record in public service and offer suggestions on national issues.
The campaign says the initiative will use technology to narrow the gap between political leaders and voters.
Phrank Shaibu, director of strategic communication for the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, described the platform as a practical way to bring Atiku closer to the electorate.
The campaign also plans to introduce a radio-based interface to reach communities without reliable internet access.
A digital push ahead of 2027
The launch comes as political parties and prospective candidates position themselves ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general election.
For Atiku, the platform offers an opportunity to communicate his policy positions directly to voters and address questions about his previous time in public office.
It also provides a channel for citizens to scrutinise his proposals on economic growth, employment, security and the cost of living.
Atiku said he wanted the public to challenge his positions and contribute ideas for national development.
“Whether you want to question my economic record, discuss my policy plans for technology, security and job creation, or share your own recommendations for national progress, nothing is off the table,” he said.
He added that transparent, technology-driven governance should begin with how leaders listen to citizens.
“I’m logged in and ready. If you could ask me one question, what would it be?” he said.
