FRI AUG 21 2026-theGBJournal| President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze after the discovery of an alleged unauthorised government agency operating from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) uncovered the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, which was allegedly operating within the SGF office without presidential authorisation.
ICPC Chairman, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, identified Nwabueze as the alleged promoter of the office, while investigators are also examining possible collaborators within the SGF establishment.
The discovery reportedly emerged from ongoing investigations into the previously uncovered Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, also linked to one Adeyemi, raising fresh questions over government oversight, verification and control mechanisms within the Presidency and other top government offices.
Following the findings, President Tinubu ordered Nwabueze’s immediate arrest and directed the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries — M.S. Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah — pending further investigation.
The President has also ordered a comprehensive forensic audit of government processes to identify loopholes that may have enabled the alleged unauthorised operation.
The latest development has heightened concerns over the effectiveness of internal checks and oversight within government, particularly after the earlier discovery of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.
The ICPC said investigations are continuing, with further action expected as investigators establish the full scope of the alleged scheme and identify all persons who may have been involved.
