FRI AUG 14 2026-theGBJournal| Nigeria’s electoral commission said on Thursday that 1.91 million, or 81.5%, of the 2.34 million registered voters in Osun state had collected their permanent voter cards ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said 1,906,390 PVCs had been collected, while 432,843 uncollected cards, representing 18.5% of the total, had been deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria in line with its established procedures.
INEC also said 6,101 voters who applied to replace damaged, defaced or lost cards had printed downloadable copies of their PVCs.
The commission said it had published a polling-unit-by-polling-unit breakdown of the collected PVCs on its website and reaffirmed its readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible and transparent election on Saturday.
The election pits candidates from major political parties against each other in a closely watched contest, with voting taking place across the southwestern state.
