TUE MAR 31 2026-theGBJournal| Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved and commenced the disbursement of N2.4 billion in gratuities to 733 retirees, fulfilling long-standing obligations to former public servants.
The beneficiaries cut across the state civil service, public schools, and various government parastatals, marking a significant step toward easing the burden of unpaid entitlements.
At the flag-off ceremony in Akure, the governor described the move as a moral obligation rather than a political gesture.
He equally acknowledged the hardship many pensioners faced due to delays and assured that his administration is working to clear all outstanding arrears as quickly as possible.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare and dignity in retirement.
He also called on retirees whose records are yet to be verified to complete their documentation promptly, assuring that due process remains key to ensuring all eligible beneficiaries receive their payments.
Pensioners expressed gratitude, praising the governor for prioritising their welfare.
