
MON MAR 09 2026-theGBJournal| Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu today formally inaugurated the Board of the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC) at the Banquet Hall, Lagos House Ikeja.
The Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC) is the official regulatory body tasked with overseeing and managing the electricity market within Lagos State.
Recall that on the 3rd of December 2024, Governor of Lagos State, Sanwo-Olu signed the Lagos State Electricity Law 2024 into law, in response to the Electricity Act 2023 and the amended Nigerian Constitution.

The Commission’s core function include:
Regulation and Licensing: Grant licenses to electricity providers, Enforce compliance with regulations, Maintain service quality standards
Tariff Regulation: Develop fair and cost-reflective tariff structures, Conduct periodic tariff reviews, Ensure affordability and equity for consumers
Consumer Protection: Safeguard consumer rights, Address customer grievances, Protect against exploitative practices
Market Development: Promote competitive practices, Encourage innovation in energy solutions, Support renewable energy and energy efficiency initiatives. Develop frameworks for energy efficiency, grid modernization, and micro-grid development.
