SUN MAR 01 2026-theGBJournal| The leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Imam Khamenei, 68, has been killed by a joint United States and Israeli military airstrike, the White House and Iran’s official sources confirmed early Sunday morning.

”This is not only justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great American’s, and those people from many Countries throughout the world, that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty THUGS,” the U.S President Donald Trump said in a statement on his social media handle shortly after Khamenei’s elimination was confirmed.

”This is the single greatest chance for Iranian people to take back their country. We are hearing that many IRGC, Military, and other Security and police Forces, no longer want to fight, and are looking for immunity from the us.” he added.

Ayatollah Ali Imam Khamenei’s death marks a seismic shift for Tehran and the wider Middle East.

Khamenei had led the Islamic Republic since succeeding Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1989 and became the embodiment of its clerical theocracy.

For more than three decades, he wielded ultimate authority over Iran’s government, security forces, and foreign policy, shaping its direction through wars, sanctions, protests and nuclear standoffs.

News reports say his death triggered a nationwide response in Iran, with state broadcasters declaring 40 days of mourning and a week-long public holiday as officials and citizens alike absorbed the shock.

The confirmation came after conflicting reports earlier in the weekend, with Iran’s government initially refraining from detailing the cause of death, while U.S. and Israeli leaders publicly claimed responsibility for a targeted operation.

The circumstances surrounding the military campaign that preceded his death underscore the dramatic escalation in Middle Eastern tensions, as allied forces targeted Iran’s military infrastructure and political elite.

Initial reports suggest that several family members and other top officials may also have been killed in the strikes, adding to the gravity of the moment

With no clear successor immediately announced, Iran faces a delicate constitutional and political transition.

The Assembly of Experts, a clerical body tasked with selecting the next supreme leader, is expected to convene as factions within the regime weigh competing interests, including the powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that has been central to Khamenei’s power base.

Globally, Khamenei’s death will reverberate across capitals and markets, raising questions about future U.S. policy in the region, the stability of Iranian governance, and the potential for retaliation or further conflict.

As Iran mourns and the world watches closely, a new chapter begins for a country long at the heart of geopolitical fault lines.
