THUR FEB 26 2026-theGBJournal| The Executive Director of the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF), Mr. Oluwole Adama, today chaired a high-level strategic session with the top management of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) of India, as Nigeria aims to accelerate the establishment of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations across the federation.
The engagement was facilitated by Osprey Investments Ltd as part of ongoing efforts to attract global expertise and investment into Nigeria’s gas value chain.
IGL is one of India’s largest gas distribution companies, operating over 1,000 CNG stations, serving approximately 2.3 million CNG vehicles, and providing about 3.3 million PNG domestic connections.
Its extensive footprint and technical depth position it as a global leader in city gas distribution.
Discussions centered on forging a strategic partnership to unlock investment opportunities, enhance technical capacity, and accelerate gas infrastructure deployment in Nigeria.
Both organizations explored areas of collaboration across compressed natural gas (CNG), piped natural gas (PNG), and broader distribution network expansion.
The timing of the meeting is critical, coming on the heels of reforms that have heightened the demand for cost-effective energy solutions.
As Nigeria looks to transition its transport sector toward gas, IGL brings a wealth of experience from operating one of the world’s largest CNG networks in Delhi.
Mr. Adama reaffirmed MDGIF’s commitment to bridging Nigeria’s gas infrastructure gap through collaboration with world-class technical partners.
He emphasized that such partnerships are critical to driving industrial growth, expanding domestic gas utilization, and strengthening energy security in alignment with the Federal Government’s gas expansion and infrastructure development agenda.
The meeting signals MDGIF’s proactive approach to positioning Nigeria’s midstream and downstream gas sector as an attractive destination for global investment and innovation.
