TUE JAN 06 2026-theGBJournal| Dominant Super Eagles of Nigeria beat Mozambique 4-0 in the final Round of 16 encounter on Monday to register their place in the quarter-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF African Cup of Nations Morocco 2025.

Super striker Victor Osimhen scored twice with Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams also on target, as the Nigerians eased through without ever needing to hit top gear.

Mozambique looked lost, ball watching and struggling to gain a foothold in the match as the Super Eagles underlined their intent in the tournament.

The romp began in the 20th minute when Lookman finished calmly to put Nigeria ahead, after Osimhen’s second minute goal was ruled offside by VAR.

Osimhen finding space in the box, made no mistakes five minutes after Lookman’s goal, to double Nigeria’s lead. The Super Eagles led 2-0 going into the half-time.

The Super Eagles kept their foot on the gas after the half-time rest, netting again in the 47th minute when Lookman provided a picture-perfect pass to set up Osimhen for his brace, which effectively ended the contest.

Akor Adams added to Mozambique’s misery in the 70th minute, scoring the 4th goal to cap the Super Eagles emphatic display.

The Super Eagles will now face either Algeria or DR Congo in the last eight clash, with that tie to be decided today.
