THUR DEC 04 2025-theGBJournal| The Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the U.S. Department of State made clear the United State’s intention on Wednesday, to forge ahead with a ”NEW G20” that excludes South Africa, in December 2026.

The U.S is hosting the G20, the meeting of the world’s largest economies, for the first time since 2019, in Miami, Florida. It coincides with America’s 250th anniversary.

Rubio underscored the exclusion of South Africa after he described the America meeting as ”New G20.”

”South Africa operated with spite, division, and radical agendas that failed to produce economic growth,” Rubio said on his X handle.

He said, ”America’s G20 will propel us forward with innovation, entrepreneurship and perseverance that makes America great and provides a roadmap of prosperity to the world.”

Rubio’s remarks echoes President Trump’s terse criticism of South Africa that culminated in the U.S refusal to attend the G20 in South Africa in November.

Trump accused the South African Government of refusing to handover the G20 Presidency to a Senior Representative from U.S. Embassy, who attended the Closing Ceremony.

”Therefore, at my direction, South Africa will NOT be receiving an invitation to the 2026 G20, which will be hosted in the Great City of Miami, Florida next year. South Africa has demonstrated to the World they are not a country worthy of Membership anywhere, and we are going to stop all payments and subsidies to them, effective immediately. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump said.

This is besides accusation of horrific Human Right Abuses ”endured by Afrikaners, and other descendants of Dutch, French, and German settlers. To put it more bluntly, they are killing white people, and randomly allowing their farms to be taken from them,” accusations that South Africa vehemently denies.

Meanwhile, the Department of State has outlines agenda for the Miami meeting: ”The G20 will use four working groups to achieve progress on three key themes: removing regulatory burdens, unlocking affordable and secure energy supply chains, and pioneering new technologies and innovation.”

The Department of State said the first Sherpa and Finance Track meetings will be held in Washington, DC, on December 15-16, followed by a series of meetings throughout 2026.

”As the global economy confronts the changes driven by technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, and shakes off ideological preoccupation around green energy, the President is prepared to lead the way,” the Department of State said.
