TUE DEC 02 2025-theGBJournal| U.S President Donald Trump has asked Rep. Riley Moore, (West Virginia’s 2nd District in Congress) and the House Appropriation Committee to investigate the persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

The President’s request comes as the House Appropriation Committee leads joint briefing on threat to religious freedom in Nigeria.

Riley Moore said, as part of the investigation, the committee is hosting a roundtable to continue building on the work they have done so far

”We will never turn a blind eye to our brothers and sisters in Christ who suffer for their faith,” Moore said on his X handle Tuesday.

Meanwhile, The House Appropriation Committee Chairman Tom Cole said, Vice Chair and National Committee Chairman Mario Diaz-Balart, joined by fellow Appropriators and members of the Foreign Affairs and Financial Services Committee, will convene a joint briefing with U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom and other experts to spotlight the escalating violence and targeted persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

President Trump on Monday directed the Appropriators to examine the ”deadly persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

Chairman Cole said the roundtable will gather critical testimony to inform a comprehensive report-directed by President Trump-on the massacre of Nigerian Christians and the steps Congress can take to support the White House efforts to protect vulnerable faith communities worldwide.

Recall that in October, the U.S. President designated Nigeria as a ”country of particular concern,” while arguing that ”Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria.”

Trump blamed ”Radical Islamists” for the ”mass slaughter.”

He subsequently asked Congressman Moore, together with Chairman Cole and House Appropriation Committee, to immediately look into the matter.
