THUR NOV 13 2025-theGBJournal| President and Chief Executive of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia.

The visit reaffirmed the Group’s commitment to Zambia’s industrial growth and its partnership with Government in advancing national development.

Since its establishment, Dangote Cement Zambia Limited (DCZL) has remained a cornerstone of Zambia’s manufacturing sector, investing over USD 500 million in a 1.5 MTPA integrated cement plant in Ndola with a 30 MW captive power plant and over 400 distribution trucks.

The company has produced more than 8 million tonnes of cement, transforming Zambia from a net importer to a major exporter within the SADC region.

Dangote Cement employs over 1,200 people directly and supports more than 5,000 jobs indirectly through its local value chains. All raw materials are sourced locally, reinforcing its commitment to Zambian enterprise.

In sustainability, Dangote has replaced over 30% of fossil fuels with alternative energy sources such as used tyres, municipal waste, and agricultural by-products.

The company, certified by ZEMA for safe waste management, has received multiple awards for environmental excellence. Its 30 MW power plant ensures energy self-sufficiency while contributing 8 MW to the national grid.

During the meeting, President Hichilema commended the Group’s contribution to Zambia’s economy and called for deeper collaboration on energy solutions.

Dangote reaffirmed his commitment to supporting energy diversification and climate resilience, pledging to explore solar and thermal power projects to serve Zambia and the DRC.

He also expressed interest in leveraging Zambia’s mineral resources, such as coal, to develop sustainable power solutions for the region.

Aligned with the 8th National Development Plan (2022–2026), these initiatives reinforce the Dangote Group’s position as a strategic partner in Zambia’s manufacturing, energy, and agricultural transformation.
