Niger Governor on peer review visit to Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone, Bénin Republic, eyes replicating the sustainable model

SUN OCT 05 2025-theGBJournal| Niger State Government is thinking of replicating the sustainable model of the Glo-Djigbe Industrial Zone, Republic of Benin at the Special Agro Processing Zone, Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport Minna.

This is part of the idea that initiated the visit of farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago to the Republic of Benin aimed at forging partnerships, empowering local industries, and driving long-term economic growth.

Governor Umaru Bago who was at the Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone, Bénin Republic had a peer review to see what the Industrial Zone in Benin has done and to take lessons and effect them on the Special Agro Processing Zone in Minna.

The farmer governor who was overwhelmed with the standard of the Glo-Djigbe Industrial Zone reiterated his commitment to partnering with Benin Republic so as to bring the much needed growth and development to the people of Niger State.

He described the relationship between the State and the Beninese government as developmental adding that, his government will learn a lot from the Industrial Zone in Benin which has been acknowledged to be one of West Africa’s leading industrial hubs with specialization in textiles, agro-processing, and export-oriented manufacturing.

Minister of State Agriculture, Abdullahi Aliyu Sabi in his remarks admitted that so much can be achieved through partnership with the Beninese government while stressing that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is leveraging on partnerships in agriculture in realizing the one trillion dollar economy he is targeting.

The Director General, Glo-Djigbe Industrial Zone, Letondji Beheton while expressing gratitude to the Niger State government for partnering the Beninese government said, the collaboration of both parties will result to the improvement of the economy of both Nigeria and Benin adding that, they are also ready to produce a lot of seeds that will be given to farmers to increase their yields.

The farmer governor and his entourage were later taken round the Glo-Djigbe Industrial Zone by the Director General of the Zone.
